Mark 3Jesus was facing much acceptance, much opposition and everything in between while doing the will of God. Not much has changed for leaders today— As I am posting this very post, I am being censored on another social media platform for posting a Bible verse where Paul confronted some evil thoughts and actions in the church. Not sure why I am being censored other than truth is still being censored even today. That platform’s community and algorithms are obviously opposed to truth. Many people, communities and platforms oppose the sharing of the Gospel message. However, the Word of God cannot be stopped, as proven throughout history. Jesus’ “red letters” are still being proclaimed despite Him being crucified and people are still being saved by the transforming power of the preserved Word of God. In Mark 3, it was the religious leaders that were more concerned about protecting their traditions and power in society. So, they were more concerned about containing Jesus Christ and His power and authority than helping a man with a handicapped condition. In spite of all that Jesus did and said, they hardened their hearts and resisted His ministry, even to the extent of accusing Him of being in league with Satan, which he confronted with question that made them look quite foolish. “How can Satan cast out Satan?” In the end, they cooperated with the evil one! However, there were also large crows that hung on every word Jesus spoke and sought to witness every miracle He performed. The crowds were so large that Jesus had to empower His disciples to help Him in ministry. “He appointed the twelve: Simon (to whom he gave the name Peter); 17 James the son of Zebedee and John the brother of James (to whom he gave the name Boanerges, that is, Sons of Thunder); 18 Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Zealot, 19 and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.” Mark 3:16–19 (ESV): As we see and understand, there is a job for everyone, even if only giving Him a little boat or a colt to borrow or to use. His call for all followers today is still to make disciples that make disciples. If you want to assist Him, remember that the most important thing is being with Him. “And he appointed twelve (whom he also named apostles) so that they might be with him and he might send them out to preach 15 and have authority to cast out demons.” Mark 3:14–15 (ESV) As He said in John 15,“Without Me, you can do nothing” (v 5). Mary bore other children after the birth of Jesus, but they did not believe in Him (John 7:5). Even His mother seemed to have doubts about her “popular” Son who was arousing the anger of the leaders and calling complete strangers His family. But, Jesus was doing the will of God; something all follows are called to do. “For whoever does the will of God, he is my brother and sister and mother.” Mark 3:35 (ESV) Are you living out your faith according to the Will of God? Are you testifying to the saving Grace of Jesus Christ? Are you facing opposition by doing the will of God? Today, stay the course by echoing loud the message that Jesus Christ is God, Sovereign and Transcendent! Keep praying! Keep caring! Keep sharing! Make disciples that make disciples for it is the Will of God!
